What is call analytics?
Call analytics is the measuring and reporting of call data, such as volume, connect rates, talk time and outcomes, to see what is working.
Common metrics
- Call volume and dials per hour.
- Pickup rate and connect rate.
- Conversations per hour and talk time.
- Outcomes by call disposition.
- Call-to-meeting rate.
Cutting these by rep, list, time of day or calling number shows where results come from.
Why it matters for sales teams
Call analytics turns activity into decisions. If pickup rate falls on one list, the data may be stale. If one rep books more meetings from fewer conversations, their approach is worth sharing. If late-afternoon calls reach more people, the team can move its call blocks.
The numbers depend on consistent logging. If outcomes are chosen loosely, reports will look precise and still be wrong.
Call analytics vs conversation intelligence
Call analytics counts and times calls. Conversation intelligence analyzes the words inside them. A team can use both: call analytics to see where results differ, and conversation intelligence to understand why.
For example, call analytics might show that one list produces plenty of conversations but almost no meetings. Listening to a few of those calls may reveal that the contacts are the wrong seniority to buy, which is a list problem, not a rep problem.
