What is a call block?

A call block is time reserved on a rep's calendar for making calls only, protected from meetings, email and other work.

Why it matters for sales teams

Reps who call in scattered minutes between other tasks lose time to switching and rarely build a rhythm. A call block bundles calling into one stretch, so preparation happens once, the dialer runs without interruption and the rep stays in a calling mindset.

Blocks also help managers plan. If the whole team calls at the same time, a manager can monitor calls, coach live and compare results across reps under similar conditions.

Example

An account executive books two 90-minute call blocks each week for follow-ups. The day before, they build the call list in the CRM and write a one-line reason to call for each contact. During the block, they work the list straight through and log outcomes as they go.

Not to be confused with call blocking

Call blocking is something different: technology that stops unwanted calls from ringing a phone. A call block is a calendar habit. A power hour is a call block run as a team sprint. The phrases sound alike, so it helps to say "calling block" when the context is unclear.
