What is call-to-meeting rate?

Call-to-meeting rate is the share of calls or conversations that end with a meeting booked, showing how well calling turns into sales opportunities.

How it is measured

Teams use one of two denominators, and the difference matters:

  • Per dial: meetings booked divided by all call attempts. This mixes list quality, pickup rate and rep skill into one number.
  • Per conversation: meetings booked divided by live conversations with the intended person. This isolates what the rep does once someone answers.

Say which one you mean when comparing reps, teams or tools.

Why it matters for sales teams

Call-to-meeting rate links calling activity to pipeline. It shows whether more dials are worth it and where coaching should focus. If there are plenty of conversations but few become meetings, look at the cold call opener, objection handling and the ask at the end. If meetings per conversation look healthy but conversations are scarce, the problem is earlier: data, dialing method or timing.

Watch it alongside no-show rate. Meetings booked with weak commitment can raise the number without adding real pipeline.

Example

Take a week in which a rep books a handful of meetings. Measured per dial, the rate looks small, because the denominator includes every unanswered call and voicemail. Measured per conversation, the same meetings produce a much larger rate. Both describe the same week and the same rep, so a report should always say which one it shows.
