Cold call script: Founder or CEO, Software (SaaS), book a meeting
Opener
Hi, is this [first name]? This is [your name] from [your company].
I know I'm calling out of the blue. Can I take 30 seconds to tell you why, and you tell me if it's worth continuing?
Reason for the call
I work with founders at software companies like [their company], usually on keeping pipeline full without adding headcount.
Why it matters to them
Founders I speak with care most about growth and where their time goes.
[What you offer, in one line], so [their company] can grow pipeline without adding headcount.
Questions
How are you handling keeping pipeline full without adding headcount today?
If you could change one thing about it, what would it be?
The ask
Based on what you said, it's worth 20 minutes to show you how we'd approach it.
Would Tuesday or Thursday work better for a short call?
If they push back
"Just send me an email." — "Happy to. So it's useful, what should it cover: [topic A] or [topic B]?"
"We already have something for that." — "Makes sense. What do you like about it, and what would you change?"
"Now isn't a good time." — "Understood. Is it the timing or the topic? If it's timing, when should I call back?"
Voicemail
Hi [first name], it's [your name] from [your company]. I'm calling about keeping pipeline full without adding headcount at [their company].
I'll send a short email as well. You can reach me at [your number]. Again, that's [your number].
How to use the script
Treat the script as a starting point, not something to read word for word. Fill in the parts in [brackets], read it out loud a few times, then put it in your own words.
- Opener: say who you are and ask for 30 seconds. Asking permission lowers the guard on a call they didn't expect.
- Reason for the call: one sentence on who you work with and the problem you work on.
- Why it matters to them: connect the problem to what this person is measured on.
- Questions: stop talking and listen. The questions matter more than the pitch.
- The ask: one clear next step, with a time.
- If they push back: short answers to the most common brush-offs, each ending in a question.
- Voicemail: under 30 seconds, with your number twice.
Make it yours
A script works when it sounds like you. Swap any phrase you wouldn't say, cut any line that doesn't fit the person you're calling, and add the one line only you can say: what you offer, in plain words.
Try a different goal for the same person to see how the questions and the ask change. A first call to book a meeting sounds different from a call to find the right person, or a follow-up after an email.
Keep the voicemail short: your name, the reason for the call, and your number.
When the script meets a live person
Scripts matter most in the few seconds after someone answers. In Personnect, the rep is connected the moment a person answers, with the contact's details already on screen, so the rep can open with the first line of the script instead of looking up who they called.
Questions, answered
Is the cold call script generator free?
Yes. It's free, there's nothing to sign up for, and it runs in your browser; nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Does it use AI?
No. It assembles the script from written building blocks for each industry, role and goal, so the same choices always give the same script.
Should I read the script word for word?
No. Use it to plan the call, then say it in your own words. Prospects can tell when someone is reading.
