What is a lead list?
A lead list is a set of prospects with their contact and company details, gathered so a sales team can reach out to them.
Why it matters for sales teams
The lead list sets the ceiling for outbound results. A list built around the ideal customer profile, with accurate titles and working phone numbers, lets reps spend their time in conversations. A loose or outdated list fills the day with wrong numbers, gatekeepers and people who will never buy.
Lead lists come from many places: purchased or licensed data, existing CRM records, event attendees, website sign-ups and manual research.
Example
An SDR manager builds a list for a new campaign: heads of customer support at software companies with 100 to 500 employees in North America. The list is checked against the CRM to remove current customers and open deals, enriched with direct dials, and screened against the company's internal do-not-call list before it goes to the team.
Lead list vs call list
A lead list is the full set of prospects. A call list is the part of it a rep is working on the phone right now, often sorted by priority.
